BEWARE of this Person. This person owns multiple businesses so you being a client are absolutely NOT on his priority list. He only tries to get money out of you. BEWARE of his Basement Remodeling business specially as he only comes with unprofessional attitude, no knowledge of business, zero sense / no grip on the project, complete lack of responsibility, ownership and integrity. His project starts with lies and ends with threats. He makes false commitments about timelines, quality, cost, workmanship and subcontractors having 15-20 years of commercial grade experience. He doesn't have his own team and he won't reveal this fact until you sign the contract and make your 1st payment (50%). He hunts and tries to team up with subcontractors ONLY. You will see new subcontractors every other week. The project runs based on subcontractor's availability. They mostly show up in the evening after 4:30-5pm when you are ready to wind up your day. Because random people work on a single project, all you get to see is poor workmanship, lack of commitment and zero consistency. They have little knowledge of what they are doing and monitoring as they rush through to finish their job for the day. You are never treated as clients because you are always taken for a ride throughout the project. He will always impose as if working on your project is the biggest favor one could do on you. Your concerns are always taken for granted. No matter how big or small the situation is.. his (contractor's) life is unaffected. Trips to mountains, race car events, in-laws visiting, nieces visiting, anniversary, birthdays, lunches, dinners, eclipses, Labor Day long weekends, the list is endless. But your life is perpetually stalled because you are sitting at home managing your own project and worrying about your money invested. Be prepared to directly deal with the subcontractors who after a point stop responding as according to them they dont get paid for the work done. When you raise concerns/objections he will carelessly reply "this is how it works in Colorado with the subcontractors". "This is what you get. No job is perfect". "My work has increased your home equity so you should rather be thankful and stop complaining about everything else". "Your complains are stressing me. It spoils my family life. My family doesn't deserve this". Wonder what about ME and MY FAMILY as a client? Along with that be prepared to work from home for atleast 3+ months to manage your own project and safe guard your hard-earned investment because Robert never shows up when the subcontractors have urgent issues, rarely if he does then his instructions would be to hide the issues and move ahead. Which forces you to think "why are you paying him to be just a mediator and get an inferior quality job". His sweet talks and unrealistic commitments puts you in a bubble and little do you realise that you have been taken for granted throughout the project. Having said that, for a basement size of 850 sq. ft., 3+ months into the project and 75% timely payments... we are left hanging with incomplete project which involves poor workmanship (3 failed initial inspections) followed with shocking details like tilted uneven wall, incorrect door frames, leaking and unfinished vanity, incomplete shower, broken baseboards, pending electrical issues (found during inspection) and numerous other finishing issues. Eventually for all the compromises, timely payments and patience what one gets in return is; unlimited stress, disrupted family life, frustration, helplessness, house full of mess, unknown unwanted people in your house, arguments, demands for more money (out of the final payment), messages threatening lien on the house and sending for collection (even after breaching the contract deadline by a 3.5 weeks and incomplete work) and above all the unbearing monetary load of an unfinished basement. In short, a Paid for Complete Chaos!! DO NOT invest your hard-earned money with this Contractor or his Company. He is a perfect example of “PAY TO RUIN YOUR HAPPINESS!!”.
